Rotary Kiln Incinerators
Rotary kiln Incinerators are waste treatment device
used by municipalities and by large industrial plants. The incinerators
consist of various feed and combustion chamber in which the waste is
ignited and burnt. To avoid the emission of harmful gases the rotary
kiln incinerators are treated with acid gas scrubbers Characteristics Following are the characterstics of rotary kiln incinerators:
Configuration Feed System Waste is feeded into the Ignition chamber through a round access door. Shredded material is loaded into a screw feed hopper with water cooled nose piece. The feed system is limited by the temperature sensors thereby maintaining a constant burn rate. Some of the system also has liquid waste injection option Primary Ignition Chamber To burn solid materials and sludges the rotating chamber is proven to be one of the best available technology. Contaminated materials are heated to drive off the contaminates and the chemical vapors so produced are destroyed in the afterburner chamber. Refractory needle is used for installing the refractory. Primary chamber is connected to a stationary mating section which contains the inspection door, blast gate peep sight, burner, and connecting duct to the secondary chamber. The damper is opened to maintain a proper air ratio for complete combustion of the smoke and particulate. The materials feeded into the rotating refractory lined cylindrical chamber, which has been pre-heated to normal operating temperature. The material is ignited y the burner and the combustible components producing smoke and volatilized gases. There is a primary Ignition Chambers which consume the material thermally. As a result of the rotation action, itdelivers the non-combustibles (including ash) to an exterior receptacle. The smoke and volatile vapors and gases are forced into the second, where air is added and the secondary burner begins the final thermal oxidation. The ash remains in the bottom of the primary chamber. The rotary action of the chamber further transports the ash and other non-combustibles to the opposite end where they exit through a slot at the edge of the kiln and into an ash receptacle. Secondary Combustion Chamber There is a secondry chamber in which the volatile products resulting from the thermal reduction process are drawn. The burner is placed below so that the incoming gases and particulate pass through the flame and are ignited. Control The control is designed to permit the proper and safe operation of the unit and to provide the operator with various options to enhance the versatility of the unit. The control panel includes the various electrical controls to assure a safe start-up and pre-heat of the chambers and operation of the Kiln. Ash Removal The ash drops out of the primary chamber once the proper burn time has elapsed. Below the opening is a collection container or an optional ash conveyor to an ash container. The ash can be cooled with water spray prior to removal for emptying. Appications Rotary KIln incinerators are used in the following industries:
