Heat-cleaning ovens or burn-off ovens, are normally
used for removing organic materials like varnish, paint, oil and plastic
from metal parts which allows them to be reused. These ovens are
commonly used in motor rewind industry and also in those industries
where products are painted electro statically or powder coated. Heat
cleaning ovens are now commonly used not only in the automotive parts
rebuilding industry and in the plastic industry as they are considered
as the most economical method of cleaning metal parts. The emissions
from these ovens are very low and the small amount of ash generated can
usually go in the trash.
Features
The important features of heat cleaning ovens are :
Did You Know?
The size of the oven should be large enough to clean the necessary
equipments. The size must be large enough to allow spaces between
the parts for hot burner gases and cooling water spray to circulate.
The size should be such that in a loading chamber there is ample
space between cores when more than one is loaded. The space prevents
the heat released from a core from damaging the ones next to or
above it. Effective fire prevention system and uniform distribution
of heat should also be looked before going for heat clean ovens.

- Effective fire prevention systems.
- Cycle time is controlled by three methods there are three methods
commonly used to control cycle time. These are batch timer,
ramp-and-soak timer, automatic cycle timer.
- The heating is generated mainly through gas fuel. Sometimes
electricity is also used for generating heat.
- Combustion chamber is either located inside the chamber or
outside the chamber.
- The burner used are of various materials and designs.
Applications
It is used in automotive engine and parts rebuilding. Here it
is used in the following area:
- Debonding brake shoes.
- Stripping insulating resin from electric alternators.
- Remove the oil and grease from blocks.
- Electric Motor Rewinding
- Plastics Processing
